CURRENT APPEARANCE

On land, he has gold fish scales scattered over his forearms and calves and blue scales scattered over his chest, neck, and jaw. In the dark, some bioluminescent flecks can be seen in his skin, sparse over his chest and in denser trails up his arms and neck. He had fins on his wrists, but cut them off soon after their appearance, leaving a scarred joint on the outside of each wrist.

In non-visible changes, Walter's senses of sight and hearing have improved substantially, especially in the dark. He also has developed a higher physical dependence upon water, feeling in good health when he's well-hydrated and/or in a humid environment, becoming uncomfortable under dry or especially hot conditions, and requiring a higher water intake than a normal human to avoid dehydration. He can produce a song that puts those who hear it under a trance, or at lower intensity, can make people subdued, amiable, susceptible to suggestion, and less suspicious. It has a much weaker effect on other monsters than on humans.

He needs to absorb the life force of humans by drowning them to sustain himself - currently, at the rate of about one every two weeks before hunger begins to affect his judgment. He can eat human food, but it is only moderately filling.

When Walter enters water deep enough to swim in, he takes on a fully monstrous form, sprouting a fish's tail in place of legs and fins on his wrists where they had been cut off in his human form. He becomes able to breathe underwater and withstand water pressure at great depths.

Under the effects of fog, Walter's water-form becomes longer and gains more fins, taking on a sea-serpent-like appearance, and his top half becomes more monstrous, gaining scales over more of his body, amongst other visual changes. His humanoid land form sprouts pronounced claws and more fins, his skin takes on a faint scaly texture, and his hunger gains more influence over him.
